About Us

We are all locals and between us we have many passions – golf, good food, nice wine, to name but a few, but importantly we share one vision – great service and memorable experiences available locally. That is why we bought the hotel, and that is what we have tried to create at The Watchman – a village hotel that looks out over the golf courses and the hills beyond; a village hotel with the most amazing garden; a village hotel which employs local people.

Our Vision

Our vision from the outset has been to preserve this much-loved local hotel for villagers and visitors alike. We want to provide comforting food, a relaxed atmosphere, and above all, a warm welcome.

At The Watchman, we are committed to being as environmentally friendly as possible.

From the beginning of our refurbishment plans we have considered how to creatively upcycle furniture that we already had, how to update the heating system and improve insulation to be more energy efficient, and how to encourage guests to re-use towels and reduce soap and shampoo packaging. Even our bed throws and cushions are made from recycled plastic bottles!
